Stage 4. The Quiroga Street

STAGE 4 A RÚA DE VALDEORRAS-QUIROGA In this stage we will go from the province of Ourense to that of Lugo, walking through some places of extraordinary beauty. The Camino begins in the church of Fátima, Fontei neighborhood, on the OU-602 road. After crossing under the N-120 we continue along a path that later becomes a paved track until we take the OU-933 at a roundabout. After passing the detour to Roblido, we leave the Sil river on our left, looking at it from a remarkable height. The landscape is extraordinary. On the road that we carry, with little or no traffic, we cross the border between the two aforementioned provinces: the signaling signs have an unfortunate aspect. We arrive at Albaredos, the first town in Lugo. Further on we leave the road and take an irregular path to the left, in a steep descent, which will take us to a stream. We passed it over a small bridge and a few meters further on we found the Montefurado stop. This town is on the steep slope of a mountain. We went up among his old houses, many of them abandoned. We passed the peculiar church. Occasionally we look ahead, being able to see the perforated mount (“furado”) that the Romans worked to divert the course of the Sil and obtain the gold. After this town, following a narrow path, we arrive at Hermidón. Along the LU-933 road we march until we find a turnoff to the right that indicates “A Ventavella”. We take this detour, sometimes a path and sometimes a path, until we reach a road where the “das farrapas” hermitage and an oil mill are located. Following this same road, a few hundred meters away, we enter Bendilló. The descent from Bendilló to the N-120 is quite intense, difficult. Once we reach the latter, we turn right and continue along the left shoulder; arrows and a sign take us on a detour to the left to Soldón. Here we will find a relaxing rest area next to the Sil and Soldón rivers. Continuing on the N-120 we arrive at Sequeiros. We cross the aforementioned Nacional and take a path that takes us through Novais, Novais castle and Caspedro. We come out for a few meters on LU-623. We cross the bridge over the Quiroga river and enter the town of the latter name. Continuing along Calle Real, a few hundred meters away, on the left, we will find the hostel.
